This isn’t Texas, obviously, but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate the Texas Auto Writers Association’s annual Truck Rodeo, which looks at all the top trucks, SUVs and crossovers of the year and hands out awards for the best in the industry. This year, 60 auto writers looked at 75 vehicles and dished out a total of 24 accolades. Eight of those were SUV awards, and of those, five of the winners were Jeep® vehicles.

That’s a lot of math, we know, but it essentially boils down to Jeep having a dominant showing in one of the most respected truck and SUV awards of the year. While the voices of Texas writers don’t necessarily speak for the nation, we certainly aren’t going to argue with the results.

Specifically, the 2015 Jeep Wrangler was named the top Off-Road SUV, while the 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk earned the award for the top Compact SUV. Meanwhile, the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee won a total of three awards in various trims: the Grand Cherokee Overland 4×4 won in Midsize SUV, the Grand Cherokee Summit EcoDiesel 4×4 won in Midsize Luxury SUV and the Grand Cherokee in general won SUV of Texas, the most prestigious accolade of the batch.

The Truck Rodeo is a really fun set of awards, and we here at Vicksburg Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM are thrilled with the results. We fancy our SUVs among the best in the industry, but it’s always nice to have awards like this justify those affirmations.
