While it’s easy to think about your car’s transmission as an afterthought, there can be a bit more to it than some people think.  The Jeep® brand offers a couple of different options when it comes to transmissions and we here at Vicksburg Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM thought it would be a nice idea to run through a few of your options and see what makes the most sense for you.

The tried and true transmission that you see often in vehicles is the manual transmission. Jeep offers a six-speed manual transmission in some of its vehicles, such as the 2017 Jeep Renegade and the 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The manual transmission is a great transmission to look if you’re looking for something that is generally considered extremely robust and can handle high torque loads. They are also considered relatively easy to service, maintain and repair. However, you need to realize that there is also a learning curve to manual transmissions, especially if you’ve only driven automatic transmissions previously. Driving with a clutch takes some getting used to, but it’s something that is entirely possible to get used to.

Automatic transmissions are something that most people probably learned to drive in because they are that much easier to work out when you’re first starting to learn. In the 2017 Jeep Compass, you have the option of a six-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission is easy to drive because you don’t have that 3rd pedal to work with and they give a more comfortable driving experience. However, if anything ever goes wrong realize that automatic transmissions are considered more complex and expensive to replace or repair.

These options are two that you could pick for your vehicle, we hope that by looking at them both you have a better idea of what you’re looking for in your new or pre-owned vehicle. Come down to our lot and check out the options in your perfect vehicle.
