The Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) has been covering the automotive industry for 30 years. Each year, they host the Texas Truck Rodeo, the end-all, be-all test of mettle for trucks. The awards handed out once the grueling tests are completed signal to drivers everywhere which trucks they can count on when the road gets rough and there’s work to be done. This year, the competition included 64 pickups, SUVs, crossovers, and commercial vehicles. Once again, the RAM, Dodge, and Jeep® brands took home top honors at the event.
The 2018 RAM 1500 Laramie Longhorn Southfork took home the Luxury Pickup Truck award, and earned the highest overall interior score out of all of the vehicles entered in the competition. The 2018 RAM 2500 Limited Tungsten was named the best Heavy Duty Pickup Truck. The 2017 Jeep Renegade, one of our favorite vehicles here at Vicksburg Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, was named the top Subcompact SUV. The award for best Mid-Size SUV went to the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk®, while the 2017 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon was named the top Off-Road SUV.
The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT received the honor of best Full-Size SUV. It also earned the highest overall performance score for the competition. “Once again the Ram, Jeep and Dodge brands from FCA US LLC impressed our TAWA members with an exceptional product lineup at the Texas Truck Rodeo,” said Nic Phillips, TAWA president.
