Last month we talked about how excited we all were about the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, mostly because it’s going to be the fastest and most powerful muscle car ever built. As it turns out, however, there’s yet another reason to be excited about the imminent release of this vehicle later this year: the proceeds from the very first one sold will be donated entirely to charity.
More specifically, Dodge is going to place the very first Hellcat into the Barrett-Jackson auction late next month in Las Vegas, then donate the money from the high bid to Opportunity Village, a nonprofit organization that helps to improve the lives of kids with intellectual disabilities.
The silent auction will be held from September 25-27 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and the winning bid will take home not only the first produced 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat (VN0001), but also a HEMI painted presentation box, a video documentary, still shots of the vehicle, a Hellcat embossed Laguna Leather iPad sleeve, a signed SRT Hellcat lithograph and an official “birth certificate” that proves the vehicle really was the first one off the assembly line.
Obviously, this is a prize package that a lot of people would love to take home, but the nature of auctions is that only one person can. What a prize, though, and what an automobile. Later this year, we’ll all get a much closer look at (and test drive in) the new Hellcat, and it probably won’t be until then we all fully appreciate what the prize winner here is actually getting!
