Some people’s ideas of “aftermarket customization” for their RAM trucks go no further than floor mats or dangling air fresheners, but thanks to Mopar, the performance and customization branch of FCA US LLC, there are a million different ways for RAM owners to make the most of their pickups, as the new 2016 RAM 1500 Rebel special edition vehicles prove.
At their hearts, these RAM Rebel models share the same guts as a standard RAM 1500 Rebel Crew Cab 4×4, but the automaker is building 500 special versions that add on a lot of those Mopar goodies before they even make it to the dealership, a process that works quite a bit differently from how Mopar usually operates.
Essentially, RAM wants to show off what kind of personalization is possible with their automobiles, and they do a pretty good job of it by adding an aluminum hood with matte black decals, off-road wheel flares, 17-inch satin black wheels, a skid plate, stainless steel treadplates, and a choice of two exterior colors that include Brilliant Black and Flame Red.
The 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine under the hood pushes out an impressive 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque, though an optional cold-air intake and catback exhaust could boost both numbers a bit, should Kalamazoo, MI drivers desire such a thing.
And, of course, the best news is that even if customers fail to get their mitts on one of these special-edition RAM Rebel models, there are still plenty of pickups here at Vicksburg Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM that can be personalized using the Mopar catalogue.
