We never want to think about getting into an accident, but it’s something we all need to be prepared for the worst. This guide from our Dodge service center goes over the steps you’ll need to take when dealing with the aftermath of a crash.

Get Your Car Away from the Road

If the accident happens on the highway, you should move your car onto the shoulder as far as you can. Otherwise, if there’s a nearby parking lot or another secure area, take your car there.

See If Anybody is Hurt

The next step may be the most important one. You have to figure out if anybody – including yourself – is injured and needs medical help. When in doubt, call for an ambulance.

Call for Help

Even if an ambulance isn’t necessary, if there is any sort of property damage, the police need to be called. While you don’t necessarily need to call the police if you’re just dealing with another driver, it may still be a smart idea.

Exchange Information

Whether a police officer is there or not, you will probably have to talk to any other drivers involved. Without casting blame or getting too heated, you’ll need to get their name and insurance information.

Call for a Tow

If the accident was severe, you may need to have your car towed. If you’re a member of an auto club, this is who you’ll want to call.

Once everything has calmed down, you need to think about having your car repaired, and you should keep Vicksburg Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM in mind. Whether it’s a small dent or major bodywork, our service department can take care of it.
